Design History Posters

Posters from my Design History Course. Cover image is Monet's Tea Set painting.

The first poster is my play on Russian Constructivism and the idea of horror vacui which is Latin for "fear of the void." Used in medieval times, this technique was to demonstrate maximalist ideas within art. I made the main image a photo of Yuri Gagarin. Although the space race wasn't directly part of Russian Constructivism, I felt that both could be merged to create something fresh and tap into something that wasn't previously explored.

The next two posters are for an assignment where I had to use the ideology of Italian Designer, Massimo Vignelli, and incorporate it for upcoming concerts at Brooklyn Steel. I really like the first poster that I created, it used Vignelli's grid-based design while incorporating modernity into it. The final version simplified everything, allowing the design to breathe more, which helped capture that Vignelli essence.
